User Manual

MacOS App

Arrr, this be so much more than just a feature o' OnSong, it be a whole new app, matey! Ye can now download OnSong 2022 on any Mac runnin' Big Sur or newer. This includes both Intel-based and Apple Silicon M-series Macs. While we've worked hard t' maintain th' same familiar user experience, some things have been changed t' make OnSong work its best on th' desktop, savvy?

When ye launch an application on a Mac, it appears in a window and has an associated menu that appears at th' top o' th' screen. OnSong be no different. Learn about menu options as well as keyboard shortcuts.

Windowed Interface

Th' main OnSong window displays th' familiar chord chart, but also maintains th' familiar menubar at th' top o' th' window. Ye can make this window nearly any size, or use th' window controls t' go full screen. In addition, Lyrics Projection and Stage Monitor be also handled with windows that can be opened and closed usin' th' Window Menu. Ye can move these t' external displays and enable fullscreen.

Gestures

Mac laptops and workstations don't have multitouch screens. However these touch gestures translate fluidly into scroll and swipe gestures available on th' trackpad and mouse. For instance, use th' scroll gesture or scroll wheel t' navigate lists or two-finger swipe on th' trackpad t' swipe through songs. Ye can also click on th' screen t' navigate th' song viewer just as easily.

Context Menus

We've added context menus throughout OnSong t' let ye perform actions on item. In iOS/iPadOS, ye can view context menus by tappin' and holdin' on an item. In macOS, ye can right click or CTRL+click t' show th' context menu.

Keyboard Shortcuts

On th' Mac, th' keyboard and trackpad/mouse be th' preferred user input device. We've worked t' add intuitive keyboard shortcuts t' OnSong t' make usin' it with th' Mac even faster, Arrr!

Not Supported

Th' Mac version o' OnSong uses Mac Catalyst t' bring th' power o' our iOS/iPadOS app t' th' Mac for th' first time, blimey! But that doesn't mean that everythin' available in th' iOS/iPadOS app be available within th' Mac version. This be usually because th' Mac does not support th' option, or because a framework that we use has not been updated t' work on a Mac.
