File Formats
OnSong supports a number o' file formats with which t' export songs and sets includin':
Adobe PDF
PDF be a standard file format that be used as a means t' create digital paper output. OnSong can export a song or songs in th' PDF format. When th' "As a single file" option be turned on, a single multipage document be outputted.
OnSong uses th' page size, orientation, and margins as provided in Page Layout Settin's when exportin' PDF files. Only text-based chord charts and other PDF files can be exported th' PDF file format. If ye have another file type in yer set, that will be outputted as just th' song title. Songs that use th' PDF format will be appended t' th' document in th' page size, orientation, and margins used in th' original file. These files do not include annotations or sticky notes. PDF files include a .pdf file extension.
OnSong
Th' OnSong file format be usually just th' content as it be written in th' Song Editor. This be useful fer importin' into another version o' OnSong, or t' save in order t' make future changes. These files be plain text and have th' .onsong file extension.
ChordPro
Choosin' this format will export th' song content usin' th' ChordPro syntax. This can be used t' edit and view th' file in ChordPro-compatible apps. This file format be text-based and has th' .chopro file extension.
OpenSong
Choosin' this format will export th' song or set in th' OpenSong XML file format. This can be used in other OpenSong-compatible applications fer lyrics projection or library management. This file format be XML-based and has a .xml file extension.
HTML File
HTML files can be exported t' view in web browsers on any platform. OnSong exports th' HTML file t' closely resemble th' chord chart as rendered in OnSong. This does not include annotations. HTML files have a .html file extension.
Text File
This outputs th' song content as a plain text file, placin' chords on a line above th' lyrics. Text files be plain text and include th' .txt file extension.
Song List
Th' song list be different from other file formats in that it does not export th' actual chord chart, but rather a list o' every song in th' set or which has been selected usin' th' Song Picker. This list be in th' HTML file format and contains a table with th' song title, artist, key, and capo.
Th' song list be exported as an HTML file that contains a table o' th' followin' song attributes: song title, artist, current key, and capo.
OnSong Archive
Th' OnSong Archive be one th' best-kept secrets in OnSong, matey! This file format be binary and can only be read by other versions o' OnSong. However, these files contain all th' information necessary t' display a song or set in another version o' OnSong (includin' styles, settin's, annotations, and external files).
Th' OnSong Archive file format includes th' .onsongarchive file extension and can only be opened by th' OnSong app.
OnSong Backup
Exportin' an OnSong Backup be a must fer any user who has spent significant time organizin' and curatin' their song library in OnSong, savvy? Th' OnSong Backup format always stores a single file and always contains everythin' needed t' restore yer OnSong library t' its original state. This includes user preferences and settin's, songs, sets, styles, books, etc. Th' OnSong Backup file format includes th' .backup file extension.
Some imported file formats can only be viewed "as-is" and cannot be converted t' other file formats when exported. These will be exported "as-is" instead.
